Life with us: Testimonials

In this section we list testimonials that describe life with us better than anything else.

“I have over the years got to know many of you as friends. Your dedication to both my Mum and my Dad has always been greatly appreciated as well as your dedication to all you serve in the home. Thank you so much for all you did in the last few months for Mum, I know it must have been very difficult at times.”

“I cannot sing the praises of all the staff adequately. As Parkinsons took an ever stronger grip on my husband so their care seemed to deepen – through difficult moments all appeared calm and loving. True dedication to their job”

“All my father’s needs were catered for, whether it was entertainment, food and wine, nursing care and all the other little things that makes life special”

“The Elizabeth Finn family is responsible for my father’s quality, enjoyment and longevity of life during these golden years.”

Short Stay: Testimonials

Many guests first visit an Elizabeth Finn Home for a short stay – for a variety of reasons. For some it may be for a short spell of post-operative care, for others it may be as part of a planned holiday. Short stay guests receive the same high standards of care and attention as all our other residents and it is not uncommon for them to return on a full-time basis.

“Thank you all for the lovely way you all looked after me during my stay. I am now making a good recovery building on the good start you all gave me.”

“I would like to express my grateful thanks to you and all your staff for your care and attention during my stay – your nurses and carers were so helpful and friendly and all done with such cheerful smiles.”

End of life: Testimonials

There are occasions when Elizabeth Finn Homes are called on for end of life care provision. This is quite naturally a difficult time for residents and their families and needs to be handled with care and sensitivity. Our staff are not only fully trained to deal with the care requirements in these situations, but also to ensure that we offer peace of mind to other family members.

“My family and I are deeply grateful to Elizabeth Finn Homes for looking after my husband. It was a great comfort to us to know that he was being cared for so devotedly by all the staff at the home and to know that he ended his days in such a pleasant environment.”
“The standard of care, not only for her physical well being but also her happiness, was always exceptional and we know that she appreciated the interest shown in her and felt secure and at home.”
“Thank you so very much for the care and kindness you have all shown my mother. I have no doubt that she received a very special quality of life despite her own disabilities.”

My EFHL journey

In 2009, I finished my Health and Social Care qualification and became an HCA at the local A&E. I found myself loving helping people but missed building relationships with patients, spending time and getting to know them, as they would come and go because of the
nature of A&E.

In 2010, I first started with Elizabeth Finn as a Qualified Carer. I was so passionate about the residents and the experience we could give our residents, that I found myself wanting to do more and make as much of a difference as I could.

I was quickly supported to become a senior carer, following completion of my probation. The deputy at the time wanted me to have an over all see of nursing and residential for experience and then I was put on specific training for medications, EOL, first aid etc. My confidence continued to grow, and meeting new people, relatives and networking was something I found myself enjoying.

I was always volunteering for extra training and learning opportunities as they came up,and I was pushed to do more. I was proud to tell people where I worked as the people around me were fantastic at their jobs and they motivated me, and the residents lived their lives to the fullest.

The Head of Residential care position became vacant and I was encouraged and supported to complete this role. At this point I also had applied to go to university to become a Registered Mental health Nurse. During my 3 years of training as a nurse, I continued working as a bank senior carer.

Once qualified, I came back to Grove Court as a full time nurse. I absolutely loved learning new clinical tasks, leading shifts, learning about my residents’ lives and being a part of one big supportive team. We were like one big family. I then naturally progressed to unit manager when the job opportunity arose. I attended leadership and management training to assist me in that role. The pandemic hit me at this part of my career – and WOW, what a learning curve.

The Clinical Care Manager went on maternity leave and I was offered to step up for mat cover, this was a changing part of my career. General Manager post then arose in one of our sister homes. I was encouraged to apply.

10 months on… I am the General Manager of the Cotswold Home and it was the best decision I made.
